Sources close to John McNulty have said that there was no meeting with senior Fine Gael figures last night.
It’s being reported today that Mr McNulty met with a senior figure from the party in the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town last night at 8pm.
But John McNulty has denied that any meeting took place, and that he hasn’t heard anything from party headquaters this week.
In the past number of days five ministers and the Taoiseach have publicly stated that they will not vote for the Donegal businessman in the Seanad by-election.
Mr McNultys price with bookmakers to win the Seanad seat have dramtically drifted over the past 24 hours, and it is looking more and more unlikely that he’ll win the seat afterall.
The result of the Seanad by-election should be known by noon on Friday.
