Derry rape accused remanded in custody

A 34-year-old man has appeared at Derry Magistrate’s Court charged with rape.
James Fickleton of no fixed abode appeared today charged with rape and one charge of sexual assault that were said to have occurred on October 19.
A police officer connected Fickleton to the charges.
Defence solicitor Mr. Seamus Quigley said that his client would not be applying for bail as he had no address.
He said that Fickleton had been resident in Derry since last week and prior to that had lived in the Irish Republic.
Fickleton was remanded in custody to appear again on November 13.
