The first 8 months of the year saw a 40 per cent jump in the number of building projects getting off the ground.
Planning applications were also up, by 12 percent for the same period, according to figures released today.
Donegal, Monaghan, Cork, Westmeath and Sligo saw the highest increases in construction starts.
The figures come from the National Housing Construction Index, compiled by Link2Plans.
