The Irish Times is reporting today that two days before Donegal man John Mc Nulty was appointed to the board of the irish Museum of Modern Arts, Department of Arts officials were asked which State boards under its control had vacancies.
Documents released to the newspaper under the Freedom of Information Act show Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys had appointed him to the board within two days of it being established there were vacancies at the museum.
Mr Mc Nulty was subsequently named as the Fine Gael candidate in the Seanad by-election following Deirdre Clune’s election to the European Parliament, but asled people not to vote for him after his nomination became a major national controversy last month.
