Co Donegal sees increase in number of violent assaults

Crime sceneOne in twenty people living in Ireland has been directly affected by crime.
And analysis of more than a quarter of criminal offences recorded in Ireland last year shows that Dublin’s crime rate is fifty percent above the national average.
The Irish Independent reports that several counties, including Donegal, have seen abnormal spikes for certain offences.
County Waterford had a much higher incidence of rape and sexual offences while county Kerry has a problem with drunk and disorderly behaviour.
Violent assaults are more likely in Donegal and home burglaries are more common in Louth.
Drink driving is a bigger problem in county Monaghan than elsewhere in the country.
