Rory McIlroy set to miss The Open at St Andrews

The rest of Rory McIlroy’s year looks to be in jeopardy as he’s announced he has ruptured ligaments in his left ankle.
The injury occurred during a soccer kickabout, and has also seen the world number one suffer associated joint capsule damage.
McIlroy says he will continue to asses extent of injury and treatment plan, and that rehab has already started.
He’s almost certainly out of the Open Championship, which begins at St. Andrew’s on Thursday week.
