Residents Associations meet in Letterkenny tonight, with maintaining the town’s status as Ireland’s tidiest high on the agenda.
Funding issues will be raised at the public meeting this evening in the Station House Hotel, particularly in terms of securing relatively small grants for grass cutting and other maintenance work.
Spokesperson Tom Crossan says under the old Town Council, of which he was a member, it was very easy for Residents Associations to get money to subsidise the cutting of grass and upkeep of their areas.
Now, he says, red tape and government restrictions mean Residents Associations are having difficulties in accessing money from the County Council…..
