A Donegal councillor has claimed the setting up of a Dublin route from City of Derry Airport would not be of any great benefit to the people off Donegal, and has said the state should not provide funding for it.
Yesterday, Cllr Gary Doherty who is seeking a Sinn Fein general election nomination, urged the Irish government to agree to a request from the airport for a subvention of €250,000.
He arghes that 40% of those who use the airport are from Donegal, and this route would be very important for the county.
However, Dungloe based Councillor Michael Colm Mac Giolla Easbuig argues that any investment should go to improving access to Donegal Airport in Carrickfinn………….
