This Wenesday is the deadline for registering to vote in the upcoming General Election.
The National Youth Council of Ireland is encouraging young people to register to vote for the first time – and reminding people to make sure they’re able to vote by visiting Check-the-register-DOT-ie.
Almost 60-thousand young people have turned 18 since last year and will be eligible to vote for the first time.
Meanwhile, delegates at a European Youth Parliament event in Castlebar at the weekend were told by Midlands North West MEP Marian Harkin that someone has to rule the world, and it might as well be them.
Ms Harkin paid tribute to Donegal Youth Council and other bodies which promote political interest in young people, telling them there is nothing special about politicians………..
