There have been claims elective surgeries at Letterkenny University Hospital are to be scaled back in the months of January and February of next year.
The reports have led to ‘serious concern around patient safety’ within the hospital and it’s believed the move is to avoid the high number of patients on trolleys in the wake of a General Election.
It is thought surgery will resume after this period.
Donegal Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn says this is politically motivated and is calling on Hospital Mananger Sean Murphy to release a statement clarifying the matter:
