Delay in implementing cross border recognition of driver disqualification

Driving-Disqualification
The mutual recognition of driver disqualification between Ireland and the UK will be delayed until next year, because the new traffic bill has not yet passed.
The issue was raised in the Dail this morning, with Deputy Tommy Broughan asking why legislation giviongh effect to a new agreement wasn’t put through the Dail as a stand alone issue, as sought by the Donal based road safety group PARC and other campaigners.
Minister Pascal Donoghue told him the new deal wasn’t signed off on until the end of October, and the first opportunity he has had to make the deal official was through the traffic bill which incorporates issues such as drug driving.
Both discussed the issue in the Dail this morning……….
