It is reported that Fine Gael is to add a woman to the ticket in Donegal to contest the upcoming General Election.
The move is to ensure the party meets its gender quotas nationally.
Fine Gael has agreed to add four female candidates to its general election tickets in Clare, Cork North Central and Donegal.
IF true, it would seem to put to bed speculation the Paddy Harte Junior would run along side Joe McHugh in the election – he had confirmed talks with the party on the possibility of running but said nothing had been agreed.
It would also rule out once and for a change of heart from Dinny McGinley who announced he would be retiring from politics once the Dail is dissolved.
Former local election candidate for Fine Gael, Grace Boyle, is being being tipped to be added to the ticket.
In the 2014 local elections Ms Boyle managed just 413 first preferences or 2.2% of the vote. She is based in Letterkenny which some would see as not geographically ideal if Fine Gael are to retain a seat in the new 5 seat Donegal constituency.
