There’s a new Ghostbusters movie on the way and the main cast is mostly female this time around, including Kristin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. The gender flip goes further with one of the original female roles now being inhabited by a person of the male sex.
That person is Chris Hemsworth and he’s on board as Kevin, he’s the one who answers the phone when people eventually figure out who they’re gonna call. Annie Potts played the part of Janine in the original films.
The official site for Ghostbusters 2016 has just launched and comes with stills of the main cast as well as a proper look at Mr Thor himself. And we have to say that the man knows how to wear a pair of spectacles.
Now is there any chance that we’ll get away without having to sit through a romantic subplot with the character for no real reason? We’ll have to wait and see on that but we will get a glimpse of what’s to come with the first trailer which director Paul Feig has promised will arrive by the end of February. He’s the man behind Bridesmaids and 2015’s fiercely funny Spy so we’ve got high hopes.
Also starring Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Andy Garcia and Charles Dance, Ghostbusters is set for release in July 2016.
