Derry City started their pre-season campaign with two wins on Wednesday night.
Manager Kenny Shiels attended Drumahoe for the annual Billy Kee Memorial Cup clash against Irish League neighbours Institute.
Derry won the tie 3-2 on penalties when it finished 2-2 after extra time. New signing Niclas Vemmelund scored both of Derry’s goals.
At the same time in Buncrana, Derry beat an Inishowen select 2-1 at Maginn Park.
Ramelton’s Barry McNamee scored the opener as Cathal Farren bagged the winner for the Candystrips.
Derry’s next game is this Friday in Belfast against Glentoran.
