Austins building will not be a factor in liquidation process following 2015 sale

The City Centre Manager in Derry has said he hopes the Austins building on The Diamond will soon be back in use following the shock closure of the department store yesterday.
Speaking on the Shaun Doherty Show, Jim Roddy said while it was long known that trading conditions were difficult and the Hasson family who ran Austins were struggling to keep the business afloat, the manner inn which the end came without warning yesterday was a shock.
However, Mr Roddy says one small consolation is that the building itself was sold to the City Hotel Group last year, which means it will not be caught up in the liquidation of Austins………..
