Two goals in the first half from Nathan Boyle gave Derry City a 2-0 victory over Sligo Rovers in the League Cup second round tie at the Brandywell.
The first came after 34 minutes. Good interactive play with Barry McNamee and Niclas Vemmelund freed Boyle to score from inside the box.
Poor defending by Rovers gave Boyle the chance to steer the ball by the Rovers keeper for the second goal in added time at the end of the first half.
Derry welcomed Josh Daniels back into the side when he came on as a substitute early in the second half.
The league campaign continues at home this Friday for Derry when Bohemians come to the Brandywell.
