Small project support is being provided by the Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership to allow Mourne Search and Rescue provide river patrols in Strabane.
The partnership says it has reached agreement with the group in response to residents’ concerns regarding the safety of young people gathering along the Mourne riverbank.
Following a number of meetings with statutory partners and residents, Mourne Search and Rescue volunteers have been carrying out nightly patrols along the river since mid-July.
Neil Forbes is Assistant Unit Commander with Mourne Search and Rescue.
He says the agreement with the PCSP has allowed them buy much needed equipment……..
