Finn Harps will play Premier Division football in 2017 after their place in the top flight was confirmed on Monday night.
Wexford Youths needed to beat Cork City to keep their hopes of avoiding the relegation play off but they lost 5-0 at Turners Cross.
They remain six points behind the Ballybofey blues with one game left and they will have to go through the play off series to fight for survival.
Harps drew in Wexford last Friday and that proved to be the crucial point which has kept them up.
Ollie Horgan’s side play Bohemians in their final match of the season at Finn Park on Friday night.
