Russian dream over for Brett McGinty

Brett McGinty bowed out of the World Youth Boxing Championships today in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The St. Johnston welterweight lost to European bronze medalist Andrew Csemez from Slovakia in the last 32 of the 69kg division.
Csemez took the win on a split decision which was to the surprise of the Irish corner.
Brett, who boxes out of Oakleaf in Derry will be bitterly disappointed as he looked to have taken the win.
He progressed to Sundays bout with a preliminary round tko victory over Thailand’s Kuattisak Promchuay on Friday.
