Buncrana hero awarded a People of the Year award

Last night, Kerrykeel man, Davitt Walsh received a People of the Year Award for the bravery he showed rescuing a young baby from the Buncrana pier tragedy in March this year.
Four-month old, Rioghnach-Ann was rescued when Davitt entered the water in a bid to save the family.
The family’s car submerged after slipping off the pier in Buncrana, claiming the lives of five other family members.
Alan Herdman, who saved eight young children from drowning in Galway in July, received a Young Person of the Year Award.
At the awards ceremony last night, Alan said the awards are a great way of honouring people who have served their communities:
