Health Minister defends government’s commitment to Letterkenny University Hospital

minster-harrisThe Health Minister has defended the government’s record on investment at Letterkenny University Hospital and has predicted the over-crowding crisis will ease.
The INMO says that today there were 22 people on trolleys awaiting admission at the hospital this morning but Minister Simon Harris said that his information is that the figure was 10.
Minister Harris says their are measures being introduced that will see overcrowding ease and waiting lists for elective surgery reduced:

luh-medical-studentsMinister Harris was in at the hospital to officially launch the Medical Academy at Letterkenny University.
The programme began with 20 students in 2011, and there are now 52 students attached to the academy.
The new unit has been developed as an extension to the main hospital building.
The Minster says this is just one of a number of developments at the hospital:
