As we reported on Sunday, Scientology whistleblower / actor Leah Remini has named Jada Pinkett Smith as a long-term member of the controversial religion, saying that she saw her a number of times at the so-called Scientology Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles.
Well, fast-forward to earlier this morning and Jada Pinkett Smith has come forward with her own statements on Remini’s accusation. In two tweets, Smith admits that she’s “studied Dianetics and appreciates the merits of Study Tech… but I’m not a Scientologist.”
Replying to @jadapsmith
I have studied Dianetics, and appreciate the merits of Study Tech… but I am not a Scientologist.
I practice human kindness, and I believe that we each have the right to determine what we are and what we are not.
“I practice human kindness, and I believe that we each have the right to determine what we are and what we are not.”
Remini has yet to respond, but Smith’s comments about Study Tech correlate with the fact that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith funded the setup of the New Village Leadership Academy, a now-closed private school in Los Angeles that was understood to have taught Study Technology as part of its educational theories.
Study Technology was developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.
