Donegal Minister Joe McHugh has welcomed additional funding of €3M for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme which directly benefits local communities.
Earlier this month Minister McHugh announced the Donegal allocation of €1.15M to 13 key projects in the county.
And the Donegal Fine Gael TD is now urging other communities to begin their plans for 2018.
“Our allocation this year from a €21.6M fund was the third highest in the country and the funding received will now allow the development of digital hubs in Arranmore, Kilcar and Carrigart and village imporovement schemes in Falcarragh, Burtonport, Ballyliffin, Convoy, Churchill, Rathmullan, Mountcharles, Dunkineely, Newtowncunningham and St Johnston.
“I am delighted that Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has secured an extra €3M in Budget 2018 for this very valuable scheme, ensuring that many more of our small towns and villages will benefit next year.
“I want to pay tribute to the many many volunteers across Donegal whose hard work has been recognised in the recent funding.
“And there are many more volunteers in many other areas who will benefit next year. I want to urge groups at the heart of our communities – many of whom have been in touch with me in recent days – to begin putting their plans together for next year so they have a chance to make significant changes in their village or town in 2018.”
