Letterkenny Municipal District Councillors have agreed to write to the Acting Garda Commissioner calling for the return of a Garda station in Churchill.
In an interim report into the re-opening of Garda stations,the assistant commissioner with responsibility for the Northern region advised Churchill should be considered for reopening.
However, the premises has been sold off by the OPW since the stations closure in 2013.
Councillor James Pat McDaid has won the support of the council calling for a new premises to be bought in Churchill for the provision of a new station:
