The Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation has signed a declaration that European coastal communities that they won’t accept being left behind or sacrificed when Britain leaves the EU.
The Santiago de Compostela declaration was signed in the Spanish city after an alliance of EU fishing organisations attended a conference discussing the potential impact of Brexit onm the sector.
KFO Chief Executive Sean O’Donaghue told the gathering that the €1.1billion Irish fishing industry supports 11,000 jobs, and that cannot be compromised:
