Frustrations continue over delays to proposed A5 upgrade

Frustrations continue to mount over delays to the proposed A5 upgrade.
SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan has spoken out after his request to meet with representatives of the Alternative A5 Alliance was rejected.
MLA McCrossan has said that an AA5A representative’s recent comments, made last week, are nothing but smokescreen maneuvering.
Following comments last week from a representative of the Alternative A5 Alliance, West-Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan has described the group’s refusal to meet him as pathetic and frustrating.
The AA5A have commenced a legal challenge to prevent construction of the Western Transport Corridor in Co. Tyrone, meaning the project has now been delayed until September.
MLA McCrossan has called on the group to divulge to the public the real reasons why they are taking what he calls “considerable measures to sabotage” the project; saying that “if an organisation cannot see the benefit of lives being saved as well as of connectivity, jobs and investment”, then there must be something strong pulling them against the project. Reaffirming that the public have a right to know what that is.
