Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has called for the establishment of a Strategic Suicide Prevention Task in the North West, saying statistics from Foyle Search and Rescue and others show the extent of the problem in the city and the region.
Speaking on the Nine til Noon Show, Mr Durkan said it’s vital that all relevant individuals and groups come together to share their expertise and come up with policy recommendations.
Mr Durkan, who lost a sister to suicide in 2011, has written to senior government officials seeking a task force as a means of tackling what almost seems to be an epidemic……….
