Petrol, diesel and cigarettes are all going up in next week’s Budget.
It comes as final negotiations take place ahead of October 9th.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohue is understood to be looking at a carbon tax to help fund social welfare hikes and income tax cuts.
It means the cost of home heating and motoring will rise next year.
According to the Irish Independent a series of stealth taxes on workers and businesses is also being planned.
While, Excise duty on cigarettes will also increase, and it’s expected there may be some change to to the 9 percent VAT rate for hotels and restaurants.
Minister Donohue will give himself another 100 million to play with by reducing mortgage interest relief for 300 thousand homeowners and hiking education levies paid by businesses.
