Church and restaurant broken into in Sion Mills

A church and restaurant have been broken into in Sion Mills, with a local councillor saying there are universal feelings of revulsion and anger right across the community.
St Theresa’s Church was broken into, as was Restaurant 1861, incidents which Cllr Maolíosa McHugh says appear to be motivated by sheer greed.
Cllr Mc Hugh is urging anyone with information to bring it to the PSNI, and says hopefully police operations will ensure there’s not be a repeat…………….

Update – The PSNI issued the following statement this afternoon –
Police in Strabane are currently investigating a series of linked burglaries which occurred in the Sion Mills area.
St Theresa’s Church and a restaurant across the street were both targeted by thieves overnight.
Two tills and an ATM reader were stolen from the restaurant however these have since been recovered and will be forensically examined.
Anyone who was in the Melmount Road area at any time overnight and who may be able to assist the police investigation is asked to contact local police on 101, quoting reference number 515 of 21/10/2018.
