Gardaí and Donegal Mountain Rescue assist lost tourist on Muckish

Gardaí in Donegal have issued a safety reminder to climbers and hill walkers, after officers, along with Donegal Mountain Rescue assisted in bringing a lost tourist safely off Muckish Mountain yesterday afternoon.
Donegal Mountain Rescue was tasked by Gardaí at around 13.10 on Saturday following a 999 call concerning a lost walker.
The team successfully located the walker who was subsequently escorted safely off the mountain.
Gardaí have described it as a ‘timely reminder’ to climbers and hill walkers to plan in advance and make sure they are fit enough for the challenge ahead.
They’ve also reminded people to inform someone where they intend to go and when they intent to return, so that Emergency Services can reach them as quickly as possible if something does go wrong.
