Local outraged after deer’s legs cut off and hung in Glenties


Concern has been raised after the discovery of deer hooves hanging from a telephone wire outside Glenties.
The discarded legs appear to have been sawn off by poachers, who hunt the animals illegally in the area known locally as the Beanna Buí.
The issue of poaching has been prevalent in this area of Donegal with large herds of deer roaming the surroundings of Glenveagh National Park.
Local man Joseph Brennan says unfortunately the trade of illegal venison tends to spike in the run up to Christmas:
