Council seeks clarification on EU Planning Guidelines


Donegal County Council is asking the government to clarify a number of planning issues, amid claims that decisions are being made in the basis of guidelines which the EU has called into question.
Cllr Paul Canning raised the issue in the context of the recent decision to house up to 100 asylum seekers in Moville.
He said at present, there is no change of use permission needed to allow a hotel be used in this way.
However, he added, if someone from Muff wishes to build in Moville, they could be turned down on the basis that they are ‘not local’.
Cllr Canning says government policy is not taking into account the ‘Flemish Decree’, which calls planning guidelines here into question……
