Donegal wind farms invest €231,200 in local communities

 

The Irish Wind Energy Association says community organisations in Donegal received over €231,000 from wind farms in the county last year.
A report on Community Investment presented last evening at the association’s annual conference shows sports clubs, scouting groups, local schools and heritage projects were among those who benefited in the county.
Nationally, the figure was just under €2.5 million, with Donegal securing the fourth highest level of investment after Cork, Galway and Limerick.
However, IWEA spokesperson Justin Moran acknowledges that the industry still faces challenges at community level:
