‘Every ounce of training put to the test in overnight rescue’

 

The Team Leader of Donegal Mountain Rescue says volunteers had to put every ounce of their training to the test overnight in what’s been described as the most challenging rescue the team has faced in recent times.
Two hikers were eventually brought to safety off the Derryveagh Mountains in the early hours of this morning following a 12 hour operation.
Due to the difficult conditions, two rescue teams were dispatched, one team approaching from the Dunlewey direction and the other from Doochary.
