The HSE and the next Government are being urged to permanently reopen the beds in Letterkenny University Hospital’s Short Stay Ward.
10 beds on the ward reopened in 2019, unfunded.
Approval was received this year for funding to open the beds from January 6th to March 31st, that has now been extended until June 30th.
However, Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn says its vital the beds remain open to assist ease the ongoing pressures at the hospital:
