Cyclists injured during alleged incident of dangerous driving

Two cyclists have been injured during an alleged incident of dangerous driving in Castlefin.

It happened at Carrick, Liscooley on Wednesday last at around 12 noon.

Three cyclists were travelling on the Castlefin to Liscooley road in the direction of Liscooley when a dark coloured pick up truck with a trailer attached overtook a tractor that was coming in the opposite direction.

As the pick up truck passed the cyclists, two of them were forced off the road and were unseated.

One of the cyclists was treated at the scene for injuries sustained and the second was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for medical attention.

Neither of the cyclists sustained injuries that are believed to be of a life threatening nature. The pick up truck did not remain at the scene and it travelled onwards in the Castlefin direction.

Gardai are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100.

Gardai are also appealing to anybody who was travelling on the Castlefin to Liscooley road around that time and who had a dash cam, to make the footage available to Gardaí
