Dad speaks of son’s role in raising the alarm after he fell off cliff

A Donegal father has today, spoke of his son’s role in raising the alarm after he fell off a cliff.

10 year old Owen Cunningham from Kilcar sought help after his father Seamus sustained injuries when he fell off a cliff on November 16th last year while working on farm fencing.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and Seamus, was treated for his injuries by NAS staff including a paramedic and Advanced Paramedic from Killybegs Ambulance Station, before being airlifted from the scene by the Coast Guard R118 helicopter.

Those who attended the incident were impressed with Owen’s calm and brave response and wanted to acknowledge this.

Yesterday he was commended for bravery by the HSE’s National Ambulance Service and received a certificate of bravery.
