Athletics Ireland has confirmed the selection of 11 individual athletes, and the Mixed 4x400m Relay Team for the upcoming World Athletics Championships to be held in Eugene, Oregon from the 15th to the 24th July.
The team includes Mark English of Finn Valley AC who will compete in the men’s 800 metres, while his fellow clubman Brendan Boyce is set to compete in the men’s 35km walk.
In a busy season for high performance athletes, several have planned their year around the European Championships and have opted to forego the World Championships in this instance, including Ciara Mageean, Fionnuala McCormack and Phil Healy.
