Hardware Association seeks incentives to tackle vacant properties

The Hardware Association of Ireland’s calling for vacant homes to be included in the government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme, an issue raised at a recent conference on dereliction in Letterkenny.

They believe 34-thousand of the country’s 167-thousand empty homes could be renovated at a ‘reasonable price’.

A 6 per cent vacant property tax, and zero interest loan of 60 thousand Euro for renovations, are among the other proposals the group have published today.
