Major search called off after kayak owner located

A large search and rescue operation was launched on Lough Swilly last evening following the discovery of a kayak in the water.

Numerous search and rescue teams were involved in the operation.

Following an appeal issued by the Coast Guard to find the owner of the kayak, they were located safe and well.

The Coast Guard is asking anyone if they loose a kayak, dinghy or any craft to inform them so that if found, the owner can be contacted directly in a bid to avoid the launch of multiple search and rescue services for fear of someone being in difficulty.
