Almost 80 TDs and Senators are landlords according to the latest register of member’s interests.

That includes Minister for Agriculture Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue was has declared rental income for an apartment in Ashtown, Dublin.

The Irish Times reports 48 TDs own rental properties or land while 29 Senators also have a stake in a property or land holding.

Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue has declared rental income from an apartment in Ashtown while Minister of State for European Affairs Thomas Byrne declared rental income from a property in Rossnowlagh, Donegal.

Senator Robbie Gallagher also listed himself as a landlord with shares in properties in Monaghan and Donegal.

It comes as Fianna Fail deputy Robert Troy is under increasing pressure over his failure to fully declare details of his property interests on the Dáil register.

There have been calls for the Minister of State to step down and he has said he is happy to address the controversy when the Dail returns next month.
