Taoiseach confirms more school buses and drivers are being sought

Taoiseach Michael Martin has defended the decision to offer free school bus transport in the current school year, denying a claim from opposition TDs that the move was not thought out and has led to chaos.

In Donegal, pupils and students with valid tickets have been left on the side of the road in a number of instances because there were not enough seats on the bus, with particular issues in North Inishowen.

Confirming that extra buses are being sought, the Taoiseach told Deputy Mattie McGrath that while there have been some issues, the alternative was to do nothing………….
