
A west Donegal Cllr has raised serious concerns around access to Donegal’s offshore islands for emergency services.
Cllr Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig says the over the weekend there was a fire on Gola Island which a fire engine, dispatched from Dungloe, could not attend.
This was due to inadequate pier access which meant the fire engine brought could not disembark the barge it was travelling on.
The Independent Cllr has now requested a meeting with Donegal County Council and the Department of the Gaeltacht over the issue of staffing.
