Workers will be legally entitled to keep their tips from December 1st.
The Payment of Wages Act 2022 will mean any tips, gratuities or ‘service charges’ must be paid to employees in a fair manner.
The legislation will also require employers to display information on how tips or mandatory charges are distributed amongst staff.
Employees working in the tourism, hospitality, hairdressing, and taxi sectors will be the first to benefit from the rule.
