Lifford Greyhound Stadium has officially reopened.
A gala event was held last evening. The stadium closed over three years ago with fears the sport may never return to the venue.
Lifford Greyhound Stadium closed in August 2019 due to what it said was ‘an ongoing lack of support from the Irish Greyhound Board.’
It was then expected to reopen in March of last year but was delayed and finally reopened last night following a rebranding and new tote model being rolled out.
Up to 60 new jobs are expected to be created through the reopening with racing set to take place every Sunday and Friday.
Around 1,000 people turned out with a ten race card running last evening.
