Annagry poorest area in Ireland in 1911

Annagry in West Donegal was the poorest area in the country according to the 1911 Census.

Meath was identified as the wealthiest county while Mayo was the poorest.

Annagry had the lowest valuation per person.

The statistics published today show notable poverty along the western seaboard, while the vast majority of the country’s wealthiest counties were in Leinster.
