Police in Derry have arrested a man following an assault on a number of police officers last night.
The incident occurred in the Carranbane Walk Area shortly before 9.15pm yesterday.
Officers were responding to a domestic related report at a property when the assault took place.
A female officer approached an 18 year old man in the garden, where the man proceeded to punch the officer in the face a number of times.
The officer was subsequently taken to hospital to treat her injuries.
The man, after assaulting another two officers, was arrested on suspicion of assault and a number of other offences.
While in custody the man continued to resist police spitting a cup of water over an officer.
PSNI are appealing to anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward.
