Assault on woman in Derry treated as a hate crime

The report of a woman who was assaulted in Derry is being treated as a hate crime.

The incident occurred at around 12.50am, yesterday morning on Waterloo Street.

It’s believed the victim was with her friends, when a number of comments were made to them by a number of individuals.

Some of the group then allegedly assaulted the victim, leaving bruising on her arm and chest.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what occurred to get in touch.
