Electoral Commission to look into reducing voting age

Research will be carried out by the Electoral Commission which could determine whether 16-year-olds can vote in Ireland.

The independent group will look at reducing the voting age, something which is included in the programme for Government.

In Scotland, people aged 16 and over have been able to vote in referendums and some elections since 2014.
