Two arrested in Donegal as part of human trafficking and labour exploitation investigation

Two men have been arrested in Donegal as part of an international investigation into human trafficking and labour exploitation.

The men aged 35 and 28 were arrested this morning for Organised Crime related offences and are currently being detained at Garda Stations in the county.

Investigating Gardaí, with International colleagues are investigating the alleged trafficking of persons into Ireland for the purpose of labour exploitation.

The operation involves a Joint Investigation Team established with Law Enforcement in Latvia. Law Enforcement activity is also being coordinated today.

Europol Officers are present in Donegal for the duration of the operation.

The investigation team in Donegal is supported by Local, Divisional and National Units including the Human Trafficking Investigation & Coordination Unit at GNPSB, the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau, Garda Mutual Assistance Section and the Garda Síochána Analysis Service.

Gardai continue to appeal to anyone who may be the victim of human trafficking or labour exploitation to speak to them.
